While surfing the web at home, and not at work, I found an interesting post on 99 Things Im Grateful For. Naturally, this caught my attention as I’m fortunate with the life I have. The blogger had 99 things, and they were good ones, but I will keep it short as the title of my post is Twenty Things for Which I’m Thankful. Now, I will only focus on professional things. You don’t want me focusing on personal things—since I have many—including my daughter’s love of art, and my sons’ athletic ability, which he did not inherit from me.
Gratitude is easy to overlook, but with Thanksgiving right around the corner, I think it’s time we give it the attention it deserves now and into the New Year.
I’m thankful for…
- The members who renewed their ASCPA membership this year and in previous years.
- Those who attend our in-person CPE, as well as, webcasts, self-study and webinars.
- Advertisers and sponsors who choose to spend their money with us.
- The Arizona Society of CPAs for providing me the tools to grow professionally.
- The members who volunteer their time with the Society and in their communities.
- The office technology that we have at our disposal.
- My health insurance and other benefits provided.
- The short commute to work, which allows me to (occasionally) ride my bike.
- The many CPAs I have met who continue to inspire me.
- My colleagues who put up with my sense of humor and lack of wisdom.
- Our office building that meets the needs of our staff and members.
- Plenty of parking spaces for our members to use.
- The free soda & beverages we provide in our office to CPE and program attendees.
- The companies & firms who reimburse our CPAs’ annual membership fees.
- Employers who recognize the value of hiring a CPA.
- The live green plants in my office and the person who takes care of them.
- The many volunteer opportunities I have been involved in.
- My employer seeing the value of their employees volunteering in the community.
- The positive changes made by the ASCPA advocating on behalf of the profession.
- Having a job where I can make a difference.
I could go on and on, but I think this post is long enough. Remember, gratefulness is a virtue that can be on display year-round. If you have neglected it, let’s all make a pact to be mindful of the things we are appreciative of, both in our personal and professional lives.
Share the things you cherish with a neighbor or maybe even a stranger. I think you’ll be surprised at the responses you get.
Thanks for reading, and have fun being grateful!
The ASCPA is fortunate to have you on its team, José, helping CPAs succeed with the work you do. Thanks for inspiring me to live every day like Thanksgiving with this post.
