Government Launches New Consumer Fraud Website

In November of 2009 President Obama established the Financial Fraud Task Force to investigate and punish individuals responsible for the nation’s current financial crisis, and to put the regulations in place to prevent another financial crisis in the future. On Friday, April 16^th President Obama’s Financial Fraud Task Force announced the launch of a new website – www.stopfraud.gov. This new website is designed to be a one-stop shop for consumers to report fraudulent activity. The website also has useful information for consumers on how to protect themselves from various frauds, including identity theft, mortgage fraud, and credit card fraud. The website includes a page with links for consumers to report various types of fraud and includes links to other government agencies that track and investigate fraud.
