I had the privilege of attending the joint mixer with the Arizona Society of CPAs and the State Bar of Arizona that was held at the Tempe Center for the Arts yesterday evening. As always the ASCPA staff hosted a fantastic event. They were greeting people at the door and mingling and making introductions throughout the evening. The food was good; I especially liked the roast beef finger sandwiches and the artichoke dip. There appeared to be over 200 people in attendance though I never got an exact count.
You always meet a lot of people at events like this but one in particular stuck in my mind. Becky Cholewka was one of the people in attendance who stuck in my mind because of her interesting story. She is a new attorney who recently graduated from the new Phoenix School of Law and found out she passed the bar exam on the day her first child was born. You can’t help but think that had to be a special day for her.
There were several companies with exhibits at the event including Paychex, Consolidated Personnel Services and ADP. Mark Benavidez of Fox & Fin Financial Group even gave away an IPod to one lucky winner. Also attending was a photographer for Attorney at Law Magazine, which will be publishing pictures from the event in a future issue of the magazine.
On behalf of all the ASCPA members in attendance I would like to extend our thanks to Cindy and the rest of the ASCPA associates for arranging and hosting this event for us.

Bob, nice seeing you there. What I liked is people were energized and engaged.
You know a mixer is good when people are there after the event officially ended. It was an interesting evening at a great venue, Tempe Center for the Arts. cathyg
Quick question for all who attended: did you like having a large event with people from many professions or would you value smaller networking events with just one other group at a time?
Thanks, Bob and Cathy, for your comments and attendance. The energy was very high, and there were more than 230 people in attendance!
Feedback is always appreciated and helps the entire Society team understand how we can best help CPAs succeed. Cindie

It was nice seeing you at the event. I knew that I had met you before but could not remember how. Anyway, it was a great event and I was so happy to be there. If you need anything, please let me know.
I look forward to seeing you again soon!
