CPAs in the community make a difference every day. Carolyn Sechler, CPA, was honored on October 13 by the Alzheimer’s Research & Prevention Foundation for her more than 10 years of service to this organization based in Tucson: www.AlzheimersPrevention.org.
Carolyn shared her passion for supporting this organization’s work to prevent Alzheimer’s disease without drugs when she received an engraved star recognizing her wise leadership and counsel. Dr. Khalsa, who established the Foundation in 1993, updated the audience on the latest research and helped us learn a simple 12 minute exercise to prevent Alzheimer’s disease.
A friend recently made a donation to this Foundation to celebrate my 50th birthday and to support my journey with my mother who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease last year. My friend told me that once she knew Carolyn was the treasurer for this organization, she stopped her research, feeling confident that the organization would use her donation wisely. My mom and I learn more about this disease every day that now affects more than five million Americans. You can read the article I wrote last year at www.ascpa.com/Content/39678.aspx.
CPAs provide a seal of approval that gives people confidence. Thanks to Carolyn and to all CPAs who give so much to others. Read Heidi’s post on October 6, and let us know how you as a CPA make a difference in our community.
Very nicely said. Congratulations Carolyn! Sorry I couldn’t be there. cathyg
