How do I give back to my community? I get involved by being on the leadership teams or boards. I learn so much each time I volunteer. Being active in the community is a good way to learn about where you live and who your neighbors are.
West Valley Cancer Connections is an organization that I invest many hours in. Everyone at WVCC is a volunteer and we meet the second Saturday each month. We assist people impacted by cancer by letting them know they are not alone and there are complimentary treatments and therapies. WVCC has built a network of business partners who provide complementary therapies (Reiki, Massage, Yoga), bra’s and other prosthetics, skin and hair, nutrition classes, Hospice and home healthcare, etc.
Other volunteer activities include being on the board of several professional associations. Each professional association has a charity chair and we actively participate in events for ALS, MDA, Humane Society, Special Olympics, etc plus we have scholarship programs.
The volunteer community is robust in Phoenix. Glad I’m here.
