The Arizona Republic reported on a scam being perpetrated against small businesses in Arizona. A company which calls itself “Arizona Corporate Headquarters” is sending out official looking letters asking for a $125.00 annual corporate fee. The letter states that “Failure to comply with certain requirements could cause your corporation to lose its limited liability status.” Other firms with similar sounding official names, such as the “Board of Business Compliance” are also participating in this scam. Some of them even quote sections of the Arizona Revised Statutes to make them seem legitimate. The Arizona Republic article “Letter scam targets small firms” ran in Thursday’s edition of the paper.
