The IRS sponsors the online TaxTalkToday.tv website that has regular presentations on various tax matters. The IRS actually lets you sample the material in various fashions, broadcasting a webinar feed live to start, but then providing archived video and audio for their presentations. You can even subscribe to the audio presentations in iTunes so that each time they post a new one it can automatically appear on your iPod.
This month the topic is one of interest to anyone who deals with nonprofits, as it outlines the new Form 990 that those in the tax exempt arena will need to deal with next year–or perhaps not have to deal with, given the relaxed qualifications to file Form 990EZ that will come with the new (and much more involved) regular Form 990 next year
You can go to the webpage here to take a look at the IRS presentation. Note that the site does want users to create accounts using their email address (a good reason to have a “throw away” free email account from Yahoo, Google or Hotmail) so be ready for being asked to set that up. One advantage of going the iTunes route is that you skip any such questions.
If you deal with nonprofits, it could be worth your while to give a listen to what is presented.
Small nonprofits are now required to file Form 990N. See http://dandridgelaw.com/2008/11/small-nonprofit-501c-organizations-must.html
Actually there are three tiers–the 990N was the “e-Postcard” Congress mandated for even those entities previously exempted from filing. So we have three tiers–the full 990, the 990EZ and then the 990N.
My friend on Orkut shared this link and I’m not dissapointed at all that I came here.
